Full professor in virology and molecular biology, recognized expert on coronaviruses, head of the Virogenetic Research Team at the Jagiellonian University. Since 2002 focused on fundamental research on the biology of viral infection and antiviral drug development. Authored >100 publications in journals like Nature Medicine, Science Translational Medicine, PNAS, PloS Pathogens, Journal of Virology, Science Signalling. Recipient of national and international prizes and research grants.
Biotechnologist, molecular virologist, team member and PhD student at the Virogenetics BSL3 Laboratory of Virology in the Małopolska Centre of Biotechnology, Jagiellonian University. Her area of interest is molecular biology of viral entry as well as antiviral research, with a focus on human and feline viruses. She has been awarded with several awards and scholarships such as L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Award or Ministry of Science and Higher Education Scholarship for scientific achievements.
Full professor and a specialist in physical chemistry. Her interdisciplinary research involves physicochemistry of polymers, physicochemical aspects of nanotechnology and molecular materials science. She is particularly interested in design, synthesis, physicochemical properties and biomedical applications of macromolecular and nanostructural hybrid systems. Professor Nowakowska carries out her research in wide international collaboration. She is an author/co-author of almost 300 original scientific papers, co-inventor of 22 patents (4 USA, 1 Canada, 5 EU, 1 Japan, 11 Poland). She was recipient of number of awards for her scientific achievements, e,g. by Ministry of Science and High Education, Recor of the Jagiellonian University (including Jagiellonian Laurel), World Intellectual Property Organization and the Austrian Cross of Honour for Science and Art.
Full professor and Head of the Group of Polymeric and Hybrid Materials for Biomedical and Environmental Applications (www.biomeden.chemia.uj.edu.pl) at the Jagiellonian University, Faculty of Chemistry. He is the author of about 100 publications in international journals as well as 25 patents and patent applications. His research interests include polymeric anticoagulants and anticoagulant inhibitors, polymers with antiviral properties, polymeric cell culture media, polymeric cryoprotectants as well as polymeric and hybrid photocatalysts for the degradation of environmental pollutants
